There can be a number of reasons why you should undertake OSHA online training.
It will enable you or your employer to reduce the costs of training. Class room training is relatively expensive compared to online training.
It also saves time. Rather than spending thttps://balanceluxuryrehab.com/
ime in off-site attendance of training sessions including travel, the theory parts of the relevant OSHA courses – for example, Hazwoper 40 (for full time site workers) and Hazwoper 24 (for occasional visitors) – can be completed on your own work premises without the need to travel to a training site. This is particularly important for employees taking the annual refresher courses.
It is also more efficient and effective from a learning point of view because you can choose the timing of carrying out the training so as not to interfere with other work and you can repeat online modules and assignments if required to help you revise to ensure that the material has properly sunk in before taking the OSHA test online. It is also more flexible because different employees can do different training courses at the same time in the same work area or even work from home in the evenings. It is important however to remember that online training can only substitute for classroom work and does not provide the practical experience necessary for OSHA compliance. From a common-sensed viewpoint, OSHA hazardous waste training and other courses (OSHA Safety Training and OSHA Construction Training) require an element of practical supervised work (despite some Internet sites which make claims to the contrary).

Fun Ways to Learn New SAT Words Without Studying

Are you currently studying for the SATs and looking to increase your writing and critical reading scores? The key to success in the SAT Critical Reading and Writing sections is to build your vocabulary. Having a broad and varied vocabulary is critical to succeeding in this area and unfortunately not something you can or should cram for.

Read a book

Read, Read, Read. The best way to prepare for the SATs, or other standardized tests including the GRE, GMAT or LSAT, is to do plenty of reading. This seems like a no-brainer, but with so many distractions from the internet and television, students today are not reading enough and their vocabulary isn’t as strong as it could be. Get your hands on higher level reading material such as novels or academic journals as you’ll be able to see what proper writing looks and sounds like. As you read, remind yourself to truly absorb the material and not just skim through it. Develop a habit of jotting down words you don’t know when reading, look them up and then start incorporating them into your own daily vocabulary.

This is the time to read all those great books outside of your assigned classroom reading and it doesn’t have to cost you a penny. Take out a book from the library or download digital classic books like Treasure Island, The Scarlett Letter, Frankenstein or Pride and Prejudice for free on sites like Google Books.

Word of the Day Calendars

Wake up and learn a new word every day. Calendar pages usually include a definition, pronunciation, sample sentence, and detailed word history. Discover words that are fun to use and test your family at breakfast to see how many words they know. Many sites are also available to download “word of the day” applications to your computer, receive free in your email or on your smart phones. Slip a sheet into your lunch bag every day and have some fun with your friends.

Play Word Games

Some other fun ideas of ways to develop your sense of comprehension when you read and expand your vocabulary skills are playing word games like word jumbles, brainteasers, crossword puzzles or board games like Scrabble.

Social network internet versions of many original board games are a great way to learn new words and let you play live against your friends, anywhere around the world. Additionally, playing some online educational and vocabulary games makes you feel good about learning new words as they donate to charities and causes to end world hunger or poverty.

Learning Spanish Vocabulary Words Online That You Will Not Find In Your Dictionary

Today I have a story to tell you that will help in learning Spanish vocabulary words online that you will not find in your Spanish-English dictionary. I recently sent an email to my newsletter subscribers saying that the Spanish language has more words than the English language. After I sent that email I received at least a dozen emails from readers saying “Patrick, this time you are absolutely wrong. It is common knowledge that there are more words in the English language than Spanish.”

I have heard that too. I have read on the Internet that there are more English words than Spanish words.

But one thing that I have learned about the Internet is just because you read something on the Internet that doesn’t make it any more credible than something you heard some guy on a street corner say.

So let me give you my side of the argument and PROVE to you that Spanish has a lot more vocabulary words than the English language.

I have several Spanish-English dictionaries. And all of them have more English words than Spanish words. Yes, you heard me correctly. All of my Spanish-English dictionaries have more English words than Spanish words.

Por ejemplo (for example), I have one Spanish-English dictionary that has 576 pages in the Spanish section and 667 pages in the English section.

But for TWO different reasons, I still INSIST that the Spanish language has more words. A whole lot more.

Reason Number One:

One problem is that English dictionaries include not only every word that we commonly use as English speakers, but the English dictionaries also include words that we rarely use as English speakers ( archaic words).

On the other hand, the Spanish dictionaries don’t include MANY Spanish words that Spanish speakers use every day.

To prove my point I made a list of Spanish words that I thought I would not find in a Spanish dictionary. I then made a list of English words that I thought that I would not find in an English dictionary.

The overwhelming majority of the words on my Spanish list I could not find in any Spanish-English dictionary or any Spanish dictionary. I was able to find a couple in some Spanish dictionaries but not in others. But there was NOT one Spanish word from my list that appeared in every Spanish dictionary that I own.

Like I said, the majority of the words on my list did NOT appear in any Spanish dictionary.

And the words on my list of Spanish words were not slang (maybe one was a slang word). But all of them are common everyday words that I have either heard Colombians use here in Medellin or when I lived on the coast (Barranquilla) or words that I have heard Dominicans or Puerto Ricans use in New York.

Here’s my list of Spanish words that I could not find in at least one Spanish dictionary (most did NOT appear in any Spanish dictionary):

1. maluco (bad, Colombia)
2. malparido (bad person, everywhere in Latin America, this word is offensive)
3. parcero (friend or “amigo,” this word is very “Paisa” or commonly used in Medellin)
4. mofongo (dish made from mashed green plantains, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic)
5. cucallo (dish consisting of rice that is stuck to the bottom of the pot, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic)
6. pegao (same as “cucallo”)
7. mojarra (fish that reminds me of a Red Snapper, everywhere in Latin America, especially Colombia and Mexico)
8. Saragosa (beans or “frijoles” — this word is very “costeña” or costal and used on the Caribbean coast of Colombia in cities such as Barranquilla, Santa Marta and Cartagena)
9. apanado (Fried or “frito.” A close translation would be “batter-dipped.” A popular fast food favorite in Colombia is “pollo apanado” or fried chicken)
10. Patacones (fried plantain, Colombia, but called “tostones” in Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic).

From looking at my list of Spanish words, I guess it is obvious what I like most about Latin American culture besides the language: The FOOD.

I actually found the word “patcacón” in my Spanish dictionary. It is defined as “an old silver coin.” A definition completely different to how the word is used here in Colombia.

I could also give you several words that are used here in Medellin on a daily basis that I have never heard anywhere else. Or words that have a completely different definition when I looked the words up in a dictionary. For example, “charro” means “funny” in Medellin. And “amañado” means happy or “contento.”

Here’s a list or several of my English words that I thought that I would NOT find in the English section of my Spanish-English dictionary.

1. diss (slang for disrespect)
2. slam-dunk (basketball term)
3. hip-hop (synonym for rap music)
4. lockdown (confining of inmates to their cells following a riot or other disturbance)

I found ALL of the above words in the English section of my Spanish-English dictionary. It seems that English dictionaries include every word imaginable from the English language. But Spanish dictionaries only include words that are commonly used in BOTH Spain and ALL Latin American countries AND regions.

Marketing Has Changed – Part 2 – The Rebirth of Word of Mouth

The social networks are here

The reason that social media marketing is so successful in today’s business environment is, as already outlined, down to the consumer mindset, rather than business strategists. Since the internet (and digital marketing in general) became common place, people have been working hard to avoid unwanted adverts. Things such as popup blockers and spam filters are rendering direct online advertising campaigns (such as email marketing) costly and useless.

The alternative is to identify what people are doing online, and adapt a business strategy to fit in with it, rather than sitting outside it. Fortunately, this isn’t hard to achieve. The key is to take a closer look at what makes social media so popular.

The whole point of social media is that it’s social. People are interacting in more varied ways and more frequently than they used to – the only difference being that is mainly online. This is the reason that inbound marketing has the advantage over traditional outbound marketing.

The rebirth of word of mouth

Consider a customer who is looking to buy a new TV. They know they want a particular size of screen and they have a budget. They may have researched a few places, looking at brochures or magazines, for example. They tell their friends, who now know what they’re looking for. That person instantly has all the knowledge and experience of their friends at hand and can begin to explore options that they may not have thought about before. Now they know about that independent shop in the city centre where the owner is friendly, the prices are clear, and the salespeople don’t try to force a sale. This word of mouth has cost nothing and is likely to have secured a sale. This is the mentality that businesses need to consider and understand.

People generally appreciate being allowed to research and purchase at their own pace, which fits perfectly within a social media marketing strategy. You no longer have to try and convince people that they want a product, but simply offer it to those who have already decided it is for them. If you make this a focal point of your content and ensure that your product is visible and available all the time, you reduce most of the effort of trying to time launches, doing surveys and other activities. You won’t need to find someone to buy from you. They will find you.

This process is far less pushy. Rather relying on marketing activities like those mentioned earlier, your company’s business strategy relies on online word of mouth, with the potential for thousands of unpaid people to essentially volunteer to advertise your company. Even better, their words will be far more trusted and will not be filtered out like an unwanted email marketing campaign. It’s important to note that this process does not sit exclusively within the ‘what to buy’ group. As well as allowing people to share ideas on what to buy, you have the added benefit of continued discussion, both before and after any sales. While you may already have a technical support department, the great thing with social media marketing is that you’ll draw in people who enjoy helping. Simply set up a forum and watch customers share ideas, tips and solutions.

Article Body:
Creating good business requirements not only assures that the proposed project will address all of the organization’s needs, but it helps to guarantee that the project is delivered on time and on budget.

Here are some of the key reasons that improved project delivery can be achieved through good business requirements.

· You are more likely to receive approval sooner from all stakeholders regarding the intended purpose of the software. This will accelerate the remaining phases of the project and help to insure that original project deadlines are met.

· Risks will be identified and mitigated early on in the project lifecycle. This will reduce or eliminate unnecessary project delays, avoid losing the trust of the stakeholders, and reduce the likelihood that unexpected costs will result.

· The design process will take less time and the results will be more accurate. This will also accelerate the remaining phases of the project and ensure that the development cycle goes more smoothly.

· The development process will take less time and there will be a less likely chance that key processes will be overlooked. Developers and database administrators will spend less time seeking answers or clarification on issues and more time on direct project-related tasks.

· It will be easier to test because testers will have used the requirements.

· It will be easier to maintain the system because all processes will be documented.

· It will be easier to change the system in the future because all processes will be documented.

· The entire project management process will go smoother because each phase will benefit from the quality of the business requirements document.

· Communications between all stakeholders and the project team will be improved as the result of holding business requirements gathering meetings.

· The customer will be more satisfied with the system and more likely to accept the project as complete. This avoids unnecessarily extending deadlines and having to re-do work that does not meet the client’s requirements.

· Cost savings will result from the increase in project development efficiency because staff time will not be wasted asking questions and seeking clarification.

· Increased accountability will result in a smoother development process. Each team member will know exactly what is expected of them and the Project Manager will have solid documentation to use when measuring project progress.

How to Cold Call without a Script

Article Body:

Linear step-by-step sales scripts have done a lot to give selling a bad name. Not because they don’t “work”, actually some people who use cold calling scripts actually do make some sales. The problem is even if you’re a good-hearted businessperson, scripts make it almost impossible for you to avoid sounding like a “salesperson.” This is a serious problem because most people respond to a sales agenda with something like, “Uh oh, I’m about to be sold something. How fast can I get this person off the phone?” If we turn away from the artificial beginning of a sales script, and approach cold calling in a different way, then we’re likely to get different responses.

The first step to cold calling in this new, natural way is to let go of your script as a crutch.

The idea may sound scary at first because you’ve been programmed to think you have to have a script to make a successful cold call. Let me share a recent experience.

Last week I was sitting at my desk and the phone rang. I picked it up and said, “Hello, this is Ari.” The caller said. “Hi, Ari, my name is Steve, how are you today?” I knew right away that he was using a structured sales script, and that triggered the negative “salesperson” stereotype in my mind. Nevertheless, I didn’t want to hurt his feelings so I let him continue with his pitch for a few minutes.

Then I gently said, “Hi, Steve.” He was so startled that he completely stopped speaking.

He had no idea how to react to my simple, normal greeting. Why? It was because he was totally focused on his selling script and not on any real two-way conversation. This is the problem with using a cold calling sales script — it doesn’t leave any room for a conversation to have a life of its own.

When people call me and ask how they can throw out their scripts and cold call the natural way, the first thing I do is ask them whether they’re willing to role-play with me using their script. As soon as they start reading their script, a couple of things happen. I hear their voices go up in volume so they sound enthusiastic. They also talk faster, and their voice takes on a canned, robotic quality. All these things trigger the negative “salesperson” stereotype.

After a few moments, I gently stop them and tell them they’re sounding like a totally different person from the one who called me and talked with me so naturally about their sales issues. You know what they always say? “Ari, you are so right. When I use a script, I feel as if I can’t be myself. I feel like a robot or an actor, and it’s very awkward and uncomfortable. Is there any way I can be myself again?”

Yes, there is a way to be yourself and still make successful cold calls. The way to be yourself is…be yourself! It’s important to stop trying to be an actor or even a successful salesperson. You’ll become more personable and more interested in the conversation itself when you do this.

We begin by focusing on relationship rather than salesmanship. We call with the anticipation of meeting someone new, and looking forward to a pleasant conversation to find out whether we can be of service. This new mindset is subtle but powerfully felt by the other person.

When we’re being real people treating others as real people, the difference is amazing. Both people are both more at ease. We anticipate talking with someone who may possibly have an interest in what we have to offer. If they don’t, we’ve enjoyed our time with him or her.

When others feel this relaxed mindset from you, they’re much more likely to welcome you into their day. However, if you rigidly follow a cold calling script, then your call is immediately pegged as something initiated primarily for your own gain. That will undoubtedly put you back to square one.

Ringtones, wherever you go they are buzzing. Some unique, some popular and some just liked by their owners. Ringtones have come a long way since they first originated. Do you know how it all started? When did the first ringtone came into being? Where did the first ringtone came into being? Let’s go back in time to find when and where was the advent of the first ringtone.
https://www.envizi.com.br

It may seem odd to you but the country in which the first ringtone was sold is Finland. Yes you read it right it was Finland. Finland is much bigger on the world telecom map then on the physical one. At the time when people in the states and world wide were thinking of buying their first cell phone, almost every finish teenager owned one and they were big into sms. The Finns tried to escalate their mobile usage after their foray into the sms and this gave further impetus to the then very much new ringtones market. The first ringtone that ever came into being was Vesa Matti Paananen.

At the same time, on this side of the continent in America the cellular operators were fastening their seat belts for the market share war. During that period the mobile market had captured 20% of the college students and teenagers. A little study found that this age group especially girls loved to talk on phone. One more thing which came into light was that these girl were fashion conscious and loved there phones to be slim and trendy and customized. This was readily done by nokia and it moved a notch up in its market share. Meanwhile in Japan companies started providing theme based ringtones like “Girls just wanna have fun”. Thus Japan entered the race in technology and mobile market and its government gave great impetus to mobile and ringtone industry as it earned great amount of royalties from ringtones.

Later in the rock and roll era, Motorola joined hands with MTV to provide wireless ringtone downloads or ringtones embedded in the mobile phone units. These two also provided various other facilities like wallpapers, screen savers etc. Some of the latest surveys in 2005 have showed that the ringtones market has jumped many folds to 11$bn in 2005 fueled by continuous supply of more innovative ringtones.

Now-a-days, there are as many kinds of ringtones as the number of people. The appetite of ringtone industry today has increased tremendously. Now instead of the ready options which are available in the market you can get your own customized ringtones easily at cheap rates or you can simply select your favorite new song as your ringtone. As the passion for music increases this industry will grow many folds. Also the new markets like India and china are giving a huge boost to the ringtones market as their subscriber base is growing at a rate of 20% annually with still 40% of the population in these countries still not using mobiles. There is still a long way to go for the ringtones industry in these new markets as well as in the developed markets. So if you are in the ringtone industry in any way you are at the right place.

Are New Condos Really Worth the Money?

In a column in March 2006 I noted that property speculators are pushing up the prices of new condominium units, which one might consider are already high compared to older ones in Bangkok.

Today let’s take a look at an example of this phenomenon. There was a new condominium launched recently on a plot of land adjacent to another older building. The latter is a little over 10 years old, but when it was first constructed it was regarded as one of the few genuine grade A condominiums in Bangkok. It has a lovely podium level, with a tranquil pool area, tennis court, every other facility you would expect, and each unit measures at least 300 square metres. Why am I telling you this? It’s because the sales prices in this condominium are little over one-half of the sales prices in its new neighbor-to- be.

For convenience, let’s say that the older condominium is selling for 55,000 baht per square meter and the new one is selling for 100,000 baht per sq. m. Is the difference in price really justified?

We can easily rule out the land price, as the two condominiums are right next to each other. So what is the difference?

Construction methods? Doubtful. In fact, many older condominium units are arguably more solid than the newer counterparts. Many developers producing lower-grade new condominiums are using materials, such as plastic imitation parquet flooring, which are unlikely to last more than a year or two. Also, lower-grade materials can allow sounds from neighboring units to pass through.

Facilities? Not in the case above. The older condominium has a full range of facilities already.

Calibre of the co-owners? In this case the new condominium has a number of smaller units, geared to perhaps a more middle- class market than the older building which comprises large units only.

The appearance of the building? This must be it. The new condominium will have a nice, shiny new lobby, a clean and newly painted exterior, freshly laid flooring in the common areas, and new furniture. The old condominium is waiting for a repaint, and a new lobby would be nice too.

Then why don’t the owners of the older condominium make these improvements? Probably because when it comes to buying a condominium, people are ready with their chequebooks, but for ongoing maintenance, this is not the case. Or maybe the condominium committee members aren’t as good at selling-in this case the idea of a necessary cosmetic upgrade to add value – as those working for the developer.

Does this mean that in five or 10 years’ time the new condominium will look like the old condominium? Is buying a condominium like buying a car; the price depreciates over time?

Well, if you gave the older condominium mentioned above a repaint, gave it a new lobby with new furniture and resurfaced the podium level, and renovated the small amount of common space in front of the units, and then the difference between the two would not be that great. I don’t see many prospective buyers drilling into the concrete structure to check the integrity of the concrete.

Bear in mind that if you buy a unit in an older condominium, there’s a good chance that inside there could be a lot of old wooden fitted furniture that’s 10 years out of fashion. You may want to rip the whole lot out and start from scratch. If you carried out a thorough renovation of the unit-new floors, new furniture, new electrical and sanitary fitting, then you would probably be looking at spending in the region of 10,000 baht per square metre.
